DragonVale was developed as a collaborative project between Backflip Studios and Team Phobic. After pitching several game ideas, we started with DragonVale. Our team focused on engineering and design, while Backflip handled art, distribution, and marketing.
The Phobic engine enabled us to develop the original release in under six months. We used App Engine for player data storage and our filesync system for remote content deployment.
DragonVale was an immediate hit, quickly topping the free charts and becoming the #1 grossing app. Eventually, Backflip Studios was acquired by Hasbro, and DECA Games continues to update and maintain DragonVale, available on iOS and Android.

My contributions included pitching the game to Backflip Studios, developing some of the user interface, programming server-side components, and designing and balancing the in-game economy and monetization.
